Destiny of the Wind - Album Review
Destiny of the Wind - Album ReviewDestiny of the Wind, the fourth and final album from J. Tillman of The Crowes, is due to be released on October 28th, 2020. This is a long time in the making for Tillman, who had previously released the first two studio albums, albums that have produced several award winning songs and garnered him a great deal of attention. The first of these two albums, The Mighty Pleather, was released in November of 2020. It was Tillman's most successful album and has been nominated for numerous awards including those won by Tillman himself. Even today, the album continues to sell well. The album has become one of the best selling Journeyman records of all time. Now, if you had asked me what album from Journeyman Records was my favorite, I would have said, without hesitation, this one. I enjoyed the acoustic sound and simple lyrics of the album. The songs had a simple message that communicated a theme of hope, love and faith in the ability of man to overcome all obs tacles that come in his way. When I heard Destiny of the Wind I knew that I was going to be listening to Journeyman Records' best work. As I listened, I realized that I still had a lot of the same influences, the same themes, the same emotions and thoughts that I heard in The Mighty Pleather. The songs were not only good, but they were pretty timeless as well. There are a few tracks that are really standouts and I consider two of them, the first is the hauntingly beautiful 'Eerie Dirge' and the second is the epic 'The Great Divide.' Both songs made me want to curl up in a warm, comforting little cocoon and never let the world go. These are two songs that were bound to be in this album and it seems that those two songs were the songwriters for this one. With the announcement of Destiny of the Wind coming out in October of 2020, I am already looking forward to the next Journeyman album. However, I must mention that the band will be hitting the road soon and beginning a few large arena to urs in the fall of 2020.In addition to those large arena tours there will also be a great number of smaller, intimate performances that will follow the release of Destiny of the Wind. The first of these concerts is scheduled for September 30th in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, at the historic Water Street Arena. Many believe that destiny of the wind will be the band's final album and that the song 'The Great Divide' will be their greatest work yet. In reality, whatever the case may be, I'm sure that there will be many fans that will be singing the praises of this band and I for one can't wait for the release of Destiny of the Wind. It seems that the Lord made a journeyman record for me.
